My Approach
I enjoy immersing myself in the visual vocabulary and idiom of a given project. I favor solutions that come from the material at hand, rather than from an imposition of a personal style. I take a chameleon-like approach and adopt visual styles as needed, on a project basis. When called for, my clients' personal tastes, design direction, (and occasionally photo archives) are integral touchstones of my design process.
My aim is to find propriety of form, tone, and structure; to reveal the spot where idea and form converge to reveal meaning. A good design is solid in its architecture and will simultaneously command and respect its given space. Good design finds the sweet spot between delivering on expectation and yielding surprise. My love for the graphic arts has not diminished—our digital age of visual over-saturation notwithstanding. I believe that work imbued with elegance and soul is as important as ever. I still love to find products, companies, services, bands, artists, entrepreneurs, stories, and help them find their visual voice in the world. My favorite project continues to be the next one. |
